Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how we, the developer of this app, handle information when you use our English dictionary and learning features. You can contact us at [email protected].

This app does not require an account and does not provide automatic cloud sync of your learning progress. Some features work on your device; online dictionary services, speech services, and advertising may process information as described below. Availability depends on the app version and enabled features.

Information stored on your device

The app stores saved words and lists, lookup history, cached dictionary and grammar content, practice results and progress, learning preferences, reminder settings, and unsent reports in local app storage. It also creates a random installation identifier and stores local advertising frequency counters. The installation identifier is not your name or email address, but can distinguish requests from the same installation.

We do not automatically upload your saved library or practice history to a learning account. Your operating system may include app data in its own backups or device transfers, depending on your settings.

Online dictionary and content requests

When online services are enabled, requests to our backend include the installation identifier. Dictionary lookups send the searched word or phrase and selected language. Other requests can include a content revision or daily-word date. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also receives network information such as your IP address. We use this information to deliver content, limit excessive requests, and protect the service.

If an entry needs to be generated or translated and generation is enabled, the backend sends the term, language, and relevant dictionary content to its AI service through Cloudflare. The generation request does not include your installation identifier, saved library, or practice history. Terms and generated entries may be retained as dictionary content for future lookups. Please do not enter private or sensitive information in dictionary searches.

In demo mode, dictionary requests and reports are handled on your device rather than sent to our backend. This does not disable separately enabled advertising or your device’s speech services.

Voice search and pronunciation

Voice search requests microphone and speech recognition access when you choose to use it. Your device’s speech recognition service processes your speech and returns text for a dictionary search. Depending on your device, settings, and speech provider, audio may be processed on the device or sent to that provider’s servers under its own privacy policy.

This app does not save voice recordings or upload audio to our dictionary backend. Recognized text is handled like a typed lookup. Pronunciation uses your device’s text-to-speech service, which may use an online voice service. You can type searches instead and revoke microphone or speech permissions in device settings.

Advertising

When advertising is enabled, the app uses Google AdMob for banner, interstitial, or optional rewarded ads. The app requests non-personalized ads. This setting does not eliminate data processing by the advertising service.

Google’s advertising SDK may process IP addresses, approximate location inferred from IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, app and ad interactions, and diagnostic information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Processing depends on your platform, settings, and consent choices. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s advertising SDK data disclosure.

The app uses Google’s consent tools and provides advertising privacy options when required by that service. You can also manage advertising identifiers and available privacy controls in your device settings. Advertising services may use identifiers or local storage even though the app is not a website using browser cookies.

Reminders and permissions

Optional learning reminders are scheduled locally using your chosen time and device time zone. Notification permission allows the app to display them. On Android, the app can restore scheduled reminders after a restart. You can turn reminders off in the app or disable notifications in device settings.

Internet access supports online content, submitted reports, and advertising. Microphone and speech permissions support optional voice search. The app does not request access to your contacts or precise location.

Reports and support

If you submit a correction or problem report with online services enabled, we receive the message, report identifier, category, selected language, app version, submission time, and, where relevant, the word identifier and content version. The request also carries the installation identifier and network information described above. Reports are used to investigate problems and improve content. Unsent reports can remain in local storage.

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include so that we can respond. Avoid including sensitive information in reports or support messages.

Local diagnostics and sharing

Optional local diagnostics keep a limited log of app events in memory, such as whether a lookup succeeded or a practice session finished. These diagnostics exclude search text, recordings, report messages, and installation identifiers. They are not automatically transmitted and are cleared when you turn diagnostics off or the app process ends.

If you choose to export diagnostics, a learning backup, or a word card, or share a word or link, the information is passed to the destination you select. Learning backups can contain saved content, progress, preferences, and report drafts; they exclude the installation identifier. Copies you export or share are controlled by you and the receiving service.

Service providers and external links

Information needed for the features above is processed by hosting, content generation, advertising, speech, and communication providers. Their services may process information outside your country. Relevant provider policies include:

Other speech engines and apps you select have their own policies. If you open an external link, the destination’s privacy policy applies.

Retention and your choices

Local learning information remains in app storage until removed. You can remove saved items and history using available app controls. To remove all local app data, use your device’s app-data deletion controls or delete the app. Operating-system backups and exported or shared copies may remain and must be managed separately.

The online backend is configured to remove submitted reports older than 90 days and completed or failed generation jobs older than 30 days through scheduled cleanup. Cleanup timing depends on service operation and backlog. Dictionary content can remain available for future lookups. These cleanup periods do not determine the retention of provider records, backups, or support email.

For questions about information you have sent us, or to request access, correction, or deletion, email [email protected]. Include enough context to locate the relevant report or correspondence, without sending unnecessary sensitive information. Deleting the app does not itself delete information already submitted to us or other services. Available privacy rights depend on where you live.

Security

The app uses HTTPS for its configured online backend. We use technical measures to restrict access and protect the service, but no storage system or network transmission is completely secure.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
